The Avoyelles Parish School Board is now accepting applications for the following position:

PARAPROFESSIONAL

Qualifications

High school graduate, preferably some college work, experience working with children, and ability to trad well and to write legibly. 

Must have accomplished at least one of the following:

Passed the Educational Testing Service (ETS) Para-Pro Assessment (ETS Para-Pro Assessment (#0755) passing score: 450) or

Completed two years of full-time study (48 semester credit hours from a state-approved or regionally accredited institution of higher education.) Within the 48 semester hours, the applicant must complete a total of general education requirements that include English Composition (3), English/Reading (6), and Mathematics (6).

When submitting an application, ALL documents requested for qualifications MUST be submitted in order to be considered. MUST meet qualifications in order to apply. Must be 21 years old or older.

The Avoyelles Parish Schools New Educator Support Team (NEST) is dedicated to promoting the professional growth and classroom success of first-year and struggling teachers. This program provides one-on-one mentorship, both on-site from instructional coaches and through a district-appointed mentor. Additionally, the district offers professional development opportunities in key areas such as classroom management, assessment, engagement strategies, and quality questioning. NEST’s mission is to equip teachers with the essential tools and support needed to excel in their careers and positively impact their students' lives.
Avoyelles Parish Schools has partnerships with local colleges and universities, as well as online Alternative Certification Programs, to assist employees on their way to obtaining a Standard Teaching Certificate. Employees seeking certification can benefit from close relationships with these programs, as well as access to online test prep tools.
Avoyelles Parish teachers receive comprehensive curriculum support at multiple levels. Each teacher is provided with the necessary curricular resources to ensure success in the classroom. Additionally, the district’s calendar includes dedicated Professional Learning Community (PLC) time and Staff Development days, allowing teachers to collaborate and plan with both campus and districtwide teams. Schools also have instructional coaches on-site to provide ongoing guidance, model best practices, and support teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies
Avoyelles Parish Schools equips teachers with the resources and tools needed to create an engaging and interactive learning environment.
