CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION
JROTC

What is JROTC?

JROTC is a nationwide program sponsored by the U.S. Armed Forces and integrated into high schools across the country. Its mission is "to motivate young people to be better citizens." Unlike traditional military training, JROTC focuses on character education, leadership skills, physical fitness, and community involvement. Students participate in activities that teach teamwork, responsibility, and the importance of civic duty.

The addition of JROTC in Avoyelles Parish reflects a commitment to expanding educational opportunities while instilling lifelong skills that prepare students for success, whether they choose a path in military service, higher education, or the workforce.

Benefits of JROTC

The benefits of joining JROTC go far beyond the classroom. Students in the program gain:

  • Leadership Skills: Learn how to lead with confidence and integrity.

  • Teamwork: Develop the ability to work effectively with others.

  • Patriotism: Understand the value of service to the community and the nation.

  • Fitness: Improve physical health and build endurance.

  • Career Opportunities: Explore pathways in both military and civilian careers.

  • Scholarships: Qualify for college scholarships exclusive to JROTC participants.

  • Discipline: Learn self-control, time management, and responsibility.
